This October 16 the New Farm Neighbourhood Centre is hosting our third annual Bouncing Back Handball Festival at the Brisbane Powerhouse, New Farm.

This Aussie school yard handball competition was created as our contribution to national Mental Health Week celebrations, reflected in our choice of title, ‘Bouncing Back’.  People of all ages and abilities are invited to play and to have fun.  Last year we had over 250 players and as many spectators. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive – watch this video taken last year.

The Festival is an all ages, alcohol free and cost free event.  We will have people speaking about good mental health and how we can foster this in ourselves and our community, we will have music, a massive handball competition, games and craft activities, fabulous dress-ups, a BBQ, food and information stalls.

The New Farm Neighbourhood Centre is a not-for-profit organisation working with the local community towards social justice, diversity and inclusion. As a significant Community Development project for the New Farm Neighbourhood Centre, the Handball Festival aims to bring together all ages and abilities to participate in the game we all love, whilst boosting social capital and engagement within the community. It is developed in collaboration with community members, local businesses, politicians, other community services and local schools and is a true community-wide effort.

We hope you can join us!
