No Interest Loans
The No Interest Loans Scheme provides assistance to low income individuals and families for the purchase of white goods, essential household items or medical
equipment. The program is modelled on an established scheme designed and developed by the Good Shepherd Service in Victoria. The scheme is about recycling money within the community enabling interest free credit with repayment plans to suit the individual's financial circumstances.
What do we offer?
Loans are approved on an individual basis. The loan amount is dependent on how much is required to purchase a particular item however; there is a maximum loan amount of $800 per person. Repayments are dependent upon each person's financial situation.
We also offer financial counselling, consumer advocacy, budgeting and purchasing advice.
Who is eligible for this service?
Applicants need to:
• be receiving a government pension or payment
• have lived at the same address for at least six months
• live in the local area in one of the following suburbs:
• Ashgrove
• Kelvin Grove
• Paddington
• Auchenflower
• Milton
• Petrie Terrace
• Toowong
• Bardon
• Mt Nebo
• Red Hill
• The Gap
What does it cost?
There are no application fees or interest charged on these loans.
How to apply
To access the scheme contact Communify Qld to discuss your needs. Provided you are eligible and loans are available for the month, you will be given an interview time.
In this interview the amount that you are able to borrow as well as your ability and commitment to repay the loan will be assessed. A mutual agreeable budget will be drawn up. We will then let you know within two weeks whether your loan has been approved.
