Who we are

Communify is an established community, profit-for-good organisation. Locally based in Bardon, we provide opportunities for people, whatever their stage of life, to join activities that are interesting, stimulating and that support an active, healthy and socially connected life. We offer a number of services to our community, one of them being a Long Day Care Centre.

Our centre operates from 8:00 – 5:30 Monday to Friday. We close over the Christmas period for 4 weeks and are licensed to provide care for up to 21 children aged 15months – 5 years.  Our centre has been assessed as ‘Exceeding’ the National Standard in all quality areas and maintains an excellent reputation in our community.

The role

We are seeking to engage an early childhood educator who is willing to undergo a two year traineeship at the centre in order to complete their Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education and Care.

You will be working in a multi age setting, with 21 children, in a teaching team of three educators: Yourself, an early childhood teacher and a qualified assistant educator.  You will receive on the job training and guidance as you progress through your Certificate qualification.  Our team are hardworking, but also very flexible so we would expect the same from you.  

Your role will be to support the teacher in providing a rich, stimulating and safe environment for the children to learn in. The role will entail mostly time working with the children, setting up the environment, helping children with daily routines such as dressing, eating, toileting and general teaching tasks as part of our teaching team.  As your confidence and skill set builds, so will your responsibilities.

The centre operates between 8:00 – 5:30pm so your shifts would be within these hours. We offer set shifts so that you are better able to maintain a work/life balance.    You will be work a 38 hours week.

  • A keen sense of what educating and caring for children entails
  • A positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • A passion for innovative early childhood practices
  • An understanding of health and safety concerns when working with children
  • The ability to work in a team environment under the guidance of senior educators
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and asthma management training (or the ability to obtain this within 3 months of commencing)
  • A working with children check – a current Blue card (or the ability to apply for one)
